Abhijit Sarkar, Ph.D.

My name is Abhijit Sarkar. I am a Senior Research Associate in the Division of Data & Analytics at Virginia Tech Transportation Institute (VTTI). I currently lead the computer vision and machine learning group whish is part of the Division of Data and Analytics. I am also a Lecturer in the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering and an Affiliated Faculty in the Department of Computer Science. In addition, I am Faculty Affiliate at the Sanghani Center for Artificial Intelligence and Data Analytics and the Center for Future Work Places and Practices.

My research focuses towards building ‘safe, secure, and healthy world’ that serves all.

I comopleted my doctoral study from the Bradley Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering, Virginia Tech, under the supervision of Dr. Lynn Aboot and Dr. Zachary Doerzaph. Prior to that, I completed my MTech from Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur and my BE from Jadavpur University, India, both in Electrical Engineering.
